Vectors and Matrices is a comprehensive mathematics course that introduces the powerful mathematical tools used to represent quantities with both magnitude and direction, solve systems of equations, model transformations, and analyse multidimensional data. Students develop a strong understanding of vector algebra and matrix operations while exploring their geometric interpretations and practical applications. Beginning with the fundamentals of vectors, the course progresses through vector geometry, matrix algebra, linear systems, transformations, and advanced applications in science, engineering, computing, and artificial intelligence.
Throughout the course, students investigate vector operations, dot and cross products, equations of lines and planes, matrix arithmetic, determinants, inverse matrices, and systems of linear equations. They learn how vectors and matrices are used to describe physical motion, transformations, networks, computer graphics, robotics, optimisation, and data analysis. Emphasis is placed on connecting algebraic methods with geometric reasoning while developing logical problem-solving and mathematical modelling skills. By the end of the course, students will be well prepared for further study in calculus, linear algebra, physics, engineering, computer science, economics, and other STEM disciplines.
